Recruitment has begun for Oregonians to serve on various committees  to help design and implement Oregon’s new health care system. The Universal Health Plan Governance (UHP-GB) has extended the deadline to apply to serve on its committees. 

These committees will be composed of members of the public and the members of the Universal Health Plan Governance Board. Don’t know if you have the subject matter expertise? Share the information with your network.

Oregon needs you! Advocates and policymakers have never been closer to achieving the goal of creating a universal health system in our state. Your experience can make a difference NOW as the UHP-GB begins its work in earnest. 

HCAO worked to establish the Universal Health Plan Governance Board as the next significant step to create a comprehensive universal health care system. This board, tasked with overseeing the development and implementation of Oregon’s new system, is actively seeking input from subject matter experts to ensure that the plan is well-rounded, effective, and sustainable. Community Engagement and Communications – responsible for developing recommendations on community engagement and communications materials that will reach. Committee members may have lived experience or knowledge of specific industries and communities affected by a universal health plan.

Finance and Revenue – responsible for developing recommendations to the board on a unified financing strategy for the universal health plan. Committee members may have knowledge of finance and revenue, business administration of health care benefits, and Oregon’s taxation system.

Plan Design and Expenditures – responsible for making recommendations to the board on the elements of the universal health plan, including eligibility, benefit design, quality improvement, provider reimbursements, cost containment strategies, and workforce needs. Committee members will need to have experience and knowledge of the health care industry as a consumer, provider, or academic.

Operations – responsible for making recommendations to the board on the future operations of a new public corporation. This committee also will be responsible for a transition plan from the status quo to a universal health plan. Committee members will need to be interested in, and have knowledge of, health plan operations.
