Cindy's Story: A Tragic Loss
Not a day goes by where I don’t think about my beautiful daughter, Courtney. Courtney was smart, talented, witty, and had her whole life ahead of her.
But she died, alone in her bed, after slipping into a coma. Hers was a death that never should have happened. But my Type 1 Diabetic daughter was kicked off her father’s insurance the day she graduated college. Without that coverage, the high costs of her medications were a death sentence.
Courtney was a young college graduate, one that struggled without insurance. She was too proud to ask for help and instead took her health into her own hands, rationing her insulin to save money.
My daughter, my love, was taken from me, and because of that I will NEVER stop the fight.
No mother should ever have to bury her daughter, especially when that death could have been prevented. I’m fighting to save Obamacare, because I refuse to let what happened to my daughter happen to another parent.
