What doesn’t the RG Report?
The RG is ignoring a Health Care movement in the United States which includes New York, California, Vermont, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Washington, Minnesota, and yes right here in Oregon.
The movement is in response to the outrageous costs that the health insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies have burdened the American people with. The cost is causing over 60% of bankruptcies is due to medical expenses. We pay twice as much for Rx than any other country in the world. Deductibles, Out of Pockets, and premiums are successfully designed to keep sick people from getting the care they need.
Businesses are forgoing profits and a level playing field because of health insurance costs.
But Colorado is offering a ballot measure that will cover the cost of health care for everybody in the state from birth to Medicare for just a 10% payroll tax. 2/3rd paid by the employer and 1/3rd paid by the employee. They collected over a 150,000 valid signatures in less than 6 months’ time to qualify for the vote in November 2016.
This is big news. It is the first time it has been on a ballot anywhere in the States for over a decade. Colorado is leading the way to get rid of corporate profits before health care. Wouldn’t it be nice to not worry if you can afford to receive health care when you need it? Hopefully, the RG will start reporting on this movement in the future.
