A conference in Portland on Saturday, May 17 (seeabove), will featurre Gerald Friedman, U Mass Economist, Fernando Gapasin, Asian Pacific American Labor Council, UAW local 1981 and Janet Bauer of the Oregon Center for Public Policy. It is organized by Physicians for a National Health Program (PNHP) and Health Care for All Oregon (HCAO). PNHP has invited Gerald Friedman, who has written widely on labor history and lately on the economics of single payer universal health care, to speak at several sites around the state organized by HCAO.
In the morning of May 17 Friedman will be appearing at a conference at OHSU sponsored by the Asian Pacific Network of Oregon (APANO) on equity issues in health care. Later that day, from 4-6 p.m., we are holding a conference aimed at a community, low wage workers and union membership, featuring a discussion of the impact of single payer on these groups.
