Now’s the Time: Beyond Obamacare
Introducing HCAO’s new Sponsored Project: a new film from the producers of The Healthcare Movie.
Now that Obamacare has been implemented, we've all seen enough to know that the insurance-based healthcare system fails many Americans. Some important topical films like Escape Fire, Waiting Room and, recently, Fix It have emerged. They all add to the public’s awareness about issues that continue to impact healthcare in America.
Since releasing The Healthcare Movie, the filmmakers Laurie Simons and Terry Sterrenberg have often been asked if they planned to make a sequel. If they were to do so, Terry and Laurie wanted to make a film that would contribute to forwarding the movement from an as yet unexplored perspective. After due consideration, they decided to focus on what’s currently being done in the United States to bring about health equality both at the federal level and in many states—work that often goes unreported in the media.
Now’s the Time: Beyond Obamacare explores the aftermath of Obamacare’s implementation through interviews, animations and exposé. This new documentary film tslls the story of the drama, struggle, and success of the movement towards health care equity. It will lift the fog of resignation and inspire viewers to action.

Now is The Time Film Tour Proposes a Timely Replacement for Obamacare
The Lund Report, February 8, 2017
by Sandra Bean
When former Oregon-resident filmmakers Laurie Simons and Terry Sterrenberg began shooting Now is the Time- Healthcare for Everybody, they had no idea the U.S. healthcare system was about to be thrown into disarray by the new administration’s effort to repeal the Affordable Care Act, potentially causing millions of Americans to lose their healthcare access. But the threat of impending major changes to the healthcare system makes their film even more timely.
