Lauderdale fundraiser a smashing success

As a fundraiser and as a fun-raiser, An Evening with Thomas Lauderdale was a smashing success as a first annual fund raising event for HCAO. Hosted at his home (and office of Pink Martini), a three-story treasure trove of art and memorabilia, the evening featured drinks, ice cream, and a variety of musical treats.150 attended- activists from throughout the state, community leaders and Pink Martini fans. Between ticket sales, sponsors and donations at the event, we raised over $15,000.

Hosts included Thomas Lauderdale and Hunter Noack, Ken Myers and Linda Lauderdale, Bill Dickey, David Dunning and Physicians for a National Health Plan. Sponsors included Bull Run Distilling Company, The Bitter Housewife, Townshend’s Tea Company/Brew Dr. Kombucha, Cascade Street Distillery, Grochau Cellars, Raft Botanical Cocktail/Soda Syrup, Salt & Straw, Teutonic Wine Company, Thomas & Sons Distillery, Wild Roots and Willful Wine Company.

Besides Thomas’ famous sing along sessions (lyrics projected on the wall) with versions of everything from Edelweiss to Summertime (the latter with vocals by Representative Lew Frederick), other treats included an appearance by the doo-wop group the Sh-Boomers and classical solos by Hunter Noack, including accompaniment of slow-motion diving footage from Leni Riefenstahl’s classic Olympia from the 1938 Olympics.

Thanks to staff, volunteers and those who attended for making this event a success!
