HCAO June Membership Meeting: An Appreciation
by Benjamin Gerritz, Vice-President Health Care for All-Oregon
On my drive home from our Health Care for All-Oregon (HCAO) statewide meeting on June 10, I was filled with inspiration, motivation, love, and hope. I attribute this to you with deep appreciation for those who joined us in Salem, and I express my admiration for your continued dedication to health care for all: everybody in, nobody out.
From New York, to New Jersey, to Nevada, to California, to our state of Oregon: your voice (combined with millions across our nation) is amplifying to a level whereby we can see equitable access to a universal, publicly funded health care system is within our reach. Reaching our 2020 Oregon goal will require each of us to continue to support each other as we work hard across our entire state. In so doing, I know we will continue to fight to protect health care we've already worked hard to earn, to continue to resist the numerous hateful attacks. If there's anything I (our Board, Caucus, and Committee Chairs) may offer to support actions tied to your health equity passion, please let us know.
If you attended our statewide meeting, and if you already completed our feedback survey, thank you. If you haven't had the chance to offer feedback yet, please help us continually improve on our statewide meetings by telling us your thoughts: Post Meeting Survey HERE
Also, I want to thank attendees who submitted Volunteer Interest Forms on Saturday. If you didn't have the chance to submit this form, please help us uplift your passions: Volunteer Interest Form HERE
Thank you to all our volunteer meeting organizers and planners. I'm pleased to report we had 138 people in attendance, 58 of whom were attending as HCAO organizational representatives. On a personal note, I was inspired to see so many new activists who joined us alongside many attendees who have been involved with our organization for some time. If you're inspired to deepen your health care political engagement, our legislative constituent contact team needs you. This team is designed to support activists who commit to engaging with their state Representatives, Senators, County and City Commissioners, and School Board Members. If you are interested in serving as a legislative constituent contact, please contact Charlie Swanson or Sandra Conyer
Before closing, I want to impart that your time and energy are greatly appreciated. Our mission also needs your financial support to continue to build on our momentum. If you contributed during our statewide meeting or after, thank you. If you haven't and you have the means, please make a tax-deductible donation HERE
Continue to embrace love at the forefront of our health care advocacy, I know you do.
