HCAO welcomes new Board members

Sandra Coyner, Ph.D, is a retired Professor of history (Ph.D.), women’s studies, and was director of several university interdisciplinary academic programs. She led in unionizing marginalized faculty and promoting quality in assessment of student learning. She was also president of the National Women's Studies Association. Her longest and deepest engagement in community activism has been in many facets of the feminist movement for many decades, up to and including current leadership in the American Association of University Women.

Passionate about challenging injustice and economic inequality, Coyner was active in the Ashland Citizens' Coalition on Homelessness; is an active supporter and occasional board member of several local and regional organizations that promote justice, nonviolence, and environmentalism; has volunteered on local Democratic Party campaigns; and currently leads two book discussion groups in Ashland. Sandra Coyner serves on HCAO's Legislative Committee.

Frank Erickson retired from a 30-year career as a board certified diagnostic radiologist, and now lives in Seaside, Oregon. He was once licensed in 13 states, from Alaska to Virginia, reading tele-radiology studies for most of them, and obtained experience from medical encounters nationwide for the last ten years of his career. Erickson has been a radiology department head, a radiation safety officer, an independent contractor, a small business owner, and the radiologist member on the Oregon Board of Medical Imaging for two terms, ending in 2011. He was a state councilor for the American College of Radiology in 2012.

Frank Erickson joined the Mad As Hell Doctors tour of Oregon in 2011 and has participated in the speaker's bureau for HCAO. He has testified in Salem in support of single payer Health Care for All-Oregon bills.
