The dilemma over Obamacare." That was the March 11 opinion piece by Froma Harrop, and it was a sad chronicle of schemes by Republican congressmen to supplant the exchanges under the Affordable Care Act should they be struck down by the Supreme Court.
As she points out, red-state voters are mainly the ones in danger of losing their coverage under such a collapse, leaving GOP lawmakers in a hard spot next election season. The unpleasant reality for these Congress people is that, in maintaining a bloated health care system that enriches insurers, drug companies and hospitals, they are denying care to the millions of people who can't afford to play in this high-priced game. And why should these "elected" officials keep supporting such a bad system? Well, guess who pays for their campaign ads.
