Report from EMO Conference

by Ruth Duemler

About 300 people from churches all over the state attended the Interfaith Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon ( EMO) Salem Rally with workshops, visits to our legislators, and speakers. Our red Health Care for All shirts stood out in the crowd---7 or 8 shirts with other HCAO members saying they wish they had remembered!

Bruce Goldberg greeted us with enthusiastic support and spoke about the Governor’s plan to increase health care with the new rules in 2014.  I passed out the list of HCAO chapters and how to contact them along with info on how to get involved and PNHP sheet on myths of single payer.  Many expressed how pleased they were that we attended and brought our effort to their attention.

It was a long day but so glad I went. I met with legislators Barnhart, Lively and assistants for Dembrow, Beyer, and Hoyle.
